ATAKOR

The Hoggar is a volcanic massif it is the desert alps. Natural citadels and camel trails transport you to a lunar world where peaks, passes, wadis, plateaus, and gueltas form an extraordinary whole.


Course of the circuit


1st day: Welcome and transfer to the meeting point with the camel drivers. Walk around the camp. Bivouac.


2nd day: We start with a slow pace walk, we slowly enter the Atakor which is taking shape better and better in front of us. Picnic in the shade of an acacia tree and afternoon walk between wadis, passes and peaks. We arrive at our bivouac Tessa n'edjanna .


3rd day: Between plateaus and peaks we notice the altitude which gives us unique panoramas on all sides.


4th jrs: In the distance, the color of the rock changes and becomes ocher red. These are the basalts of Taessa "belly of the sky" where the rock paintings bear witness to an ancient civilization. Our bivouac will be located near a guelta (water point).


5th jrs: After a few kilometers the landscapes change in appearance and color, we are in the heart of Atakor. The bivouac at the foot of the Aouknet, a magnificent peak.


6th jrs: We go in search of very well protected cave paintings. "A climb is essential to see them" before returning to our camp at the bottom of the Assekrem which offers a unique panorama and sunset seen from the Hermitage of Père Foucault.


7th day: After breakfast, walk to the Touzouiags where we meet the 4x4 for a transfer to Tamanrasset.

On the way back stop at the guelta d'Afilal where the last fish of the Hoggar are found.

8th days: Free time until transfer to the airport depending on the time of the flight.
